{"id":5458,"date":"2026-07-02T12:34:58","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T11:34:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/espsig.iatefl.org\/?p=5458"},"modified":"2026-07-02T12:35:01","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T11:35:01","slug":"call-for-papers-espsig-resig-online-conference-researching-esp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/espsig.iatefl.org\/?p=5458","title":{"rendered":"Call for Papers: ESPSIG-RESIG Online Conference, Researching ESP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ESPSIG (English for Specific Purposes Special Interest Group) and RESIG (Research Special Interest Group) of IATEFL are collaborating to host an online conference\u00a0on <em>Researching ESP: Approaches and Methods <\/em>on <strong>Saturday 14<sup>th<\/sup> November, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The conference aims are to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Share good practice<\/li>\n<li>Collate ways of researching ESP\u00a0pedagogy<\/li>\n<li>Create a space for thinking about ESP and research<\/li>\n<li>Encourage research collaboration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We open up the call for papers to teachers, practitioners and researchers to share research practices related to English for Specific Purposes (ESP), Academic Purposes (EAP), Occupational Purposes (EOP), Professional Purposes (EPP), Content Learning in Language (CLIL) and English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) or any other allied subject.<\/p>\n<p>We welcome contributions that explore empirical research, theoretical insights, and methodological innovations. We welcome proposals on (but not limited to):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research methods in ESP<\/li>\n<li>Practitioner\/teacher research\/classroom-based research<\/li>\n<li>Research ethics and ESP (e.g. AI and digital tools; data ethics)<\/li>\n<li>Researcher and practitioner identity<\/li>\n<li>Social justice, inclusion and equity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We particularly welcome submissions from early career researchers, doctoral students and under-represented scholars.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related publications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.taylorfrancis.com\/books\/mono\/10.4324\/9781003049678\/introducing-researching-english-specific-purposes-lindy-woodrow\">Introducing researching English for Specific Purposes.<\/a> (2022). Gollin-Kies, S.<\/p>\n<h2>Keynote speakers<\/h2>\n<p>Sin Wang Chong, University of St Andrews<\/p>\n<p><strong>Synthesising Research Evidence for ESP Practice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Professor Sin-Wang Chong\u00a0is Founding Director of the Centre for International, Language and Teacher Education Research (CILTER), University of St Andrews. In a visiting capacity, he is Professor in Education at King\u2019s College London. He edits three international journals:\u00a0<em>Research Synthesis in Applied Linguistics<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Review of Education<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Innovation in Language Learning and Teaching<\/em>. Sin-Wang is a top 2% researcher in education since 2023 and a Principal Fellow of AdvanceHE.<\/p>\n<h2>Submissions<\/h2>\n<p>Abstracts for paper presentations (up to 200 words) should include title, author(s), affiliation, and contact information.
