IATEFL ESPSIG Pre-Conference Event 2022 – 16th May 2022: 21st century ESP – A Decolonial Perspective
Call for papers
Debates in many areas of English language teaching have highlighted the existence of the coloniality of power, which is based on Eurocentric ways of knowledge production and the imposition of political, social, cultural, linguistic and ideological control. This is something which has greatly affected the profession as a whole. Therefore, the ESPSIG’s 2022 PCE will focus specifically on investigations into how coloniality, i.e. Western ways of knowing and doing, affects ESP professionals all over the world and what the ESP community can do to disrupt these hegemonic forces. In this way, we hope to open a dialogue, and develop collaboration and understanding in order to cultivate a diversity of voices and plurality of views and practices in areas including, but not limited to:
- knowledge production
- new learners, new needs, new methods
- materials
- teacher training
- interdisciplinary collaboration
We would like to use this opportunity to invite you to submit a proposal for a talk or a workshop to be presented at our PCE on 16th May 2022 in Belfast.
We look forward to receiving your proposal!
